Start Here

If you're like most Christians we know, your problem isn't information. You've heard the sermons. You've started the reading plans. You know what you should be doing. The problem is the gap between what you know and what you actually practice, and the slow drift that fills that gap.

Gospel for Life exists to close it. Not with pressure, and not with another system you'll abandon by February, but with small gospel habits that lead to lasting spiritual growth.

What We Believe About Growth

Growth doesn't come from trying harder. It comes from grace: from returning, again and again, to the good news of what God has done in Christ, and letting that news reshape what you want. The gospel isn't the starting line of the Christian life. It's the track you run on.

That's why everything here is built on habits rather than heroics. A ten-minute practice repeated daily will change you more than any conference high or New Year's resolution. And when you miss a day (you will), you don't start over from zero. You begin again. That's not a loophole. That's grace.

The Path

Everything we publish follows a simple path, drawn from two books: How to Grow and 8 Habits for Growth (Moody Publishers).

First, make space. Nobody grows without room to grow in. Two preparatory habits, making time and resting well, come before everything else, because "too busy" is where most spiritual drift begins.

Then, practice the core habits. Engage the Bible. Speak with God. Worship and belong to a church. These are the three habits you'll never outgrow, no matter how long you've followed Jesus.

Then, build for the long haul. Care for your body, simplify your life, and shape a sustainable Rule of Life: a set of rhythms that fit who you are and keep you growing for decades, not weeks.

Finally, help someone else grow. You're one step ahead of somebody. Growth was never meant to stop with you.

You don't have to know where you are on that path yet. The next step will make it clear.

Not a Christian? Start Even Simpler.

Maybe you're not sure what you believe yet, and habits feel like getting ahead of things. You're right. They are. The place to start isn't a practice. It's a person. The heart of the Christian faith is news, not advice: that God, in Jesus, has done for you what you could never do for yourself, living the life you couldn't live, dying the death your sins deserved, and rising so that you can be forgiven and made new. You don't clean yourself up first. You come as you are and believe.

If that's you, we'd love to help. Start with How to Grow, or reply to any of our emails and ask. No pressure, no jargon, no performance.

One Last Thing

You've probably started before. You've probably quit before. That doesn't disqualify you here. It's practically a membership requirement.

Today, you can begin. Today, you can begin again.
